Né à Montréal en 1953, vit et travaille à Montréal.
Serge Murphy, habituellement voué à une pratique sculpturale, travaille maintenant, depuis un moment, sur des aquarelles sur papier. Malgré ce changement radical de médium, il est possible de reconnaître en ces agglutinations, ces formes organiques, ces constructions flottantes, la signature de l’artiste. Ces œuvres donnent à voir des formes simples aux couleurs saturées, aux frontières de l’immatérialité, où Murphy joue à la fois avec la transparence et l’accumulation du médium.

Born in Montreal in 1953, lives and works in Montreal.
Serge Murphy, habitually practicing as a sculptor, has recently created a series of watercolours on paper. Despite this radical change of medium, the artist is recognizable by his signature formations, organic forms, and floating constructions. These works provide simple shapes in saturated colors, existing at the border of immateriality where Murphy plays with both transparency and accumulation of the medium.
